Aside from outwitting your opponent , are there strategies that would help you win in solitaire or do bad cards doom you from the beginning?

You can take this question seriously or lightly. Hmmm--- I can smell the wisecracks already.

sure there's strategy. never leave any blank spots unless you really have to because you might be able to bring something else down onto that spot. don't automatically put your cards up into the four stacks because again, you could bring more down from the deck. and of course when you have more than one row you can flip over, always flip the one with the most cards still hidden. don't know if it helps but those are things i do when i play.

I find that my wife cheats. Not with other men but when we are both playing Solitaire. I used to play by the rules but then I got married. She does not let me watch television so I do not know what is going on in the world. No news, no Eastenders, no House. I started her off on Snap, but she cheated on that game as well. She had a mirror which she pretended she was using to pluck her mustache but in fact she was looking at the next card. No wonder she always won. However, with Solitaire, she has a much meaner streak in her. Her cheating has become far more sophisticated. She goes out to the kitchen and when she comes back, she has obviously gone through an identical pack of cards and picked out the next moves. I discovered her little game by pure chance, when I noticed that there were in fact eight aces and six kings on the table. I think it had something to do with the beer she kept feeding me when she came back from the fridge.
However, I have made up my mind, once and for all. I shall never play with her again. I shall play Solitaire on my own in future and I don't care if it is a solitary pastime...
