Put together a letter detailing the festival, how many years it has ran, attendance, etc. Then ask if they would be interested in being a sponsor for next years event. Then, mail it out to businesses that you think would be interested in sponsoring-car dealerships, grocery stores, etc. Offer different levels of sponsorship. And make sure you put a limit on how many can be at each level. Such as, corporate level-business name is part of festival name "such and such festival sponsored by X". Their name is predominantly displayed everywhere. Next level down, they sponsor a stage, or an activity, etc. All the way down to where their name is on posters, etc.
Make sure you mail early. Most businesses will set their advertising budgets for the following year in October, November and December. You want to get your information in early.

Go to the Casinos in town and ask for support. I highly recommend that your event board of directors write special letters asking fro report, and how their sponsorship will help your event.
(The casinos in Atlantic City are not supportive to charities. The Miss America Scholarship program was forced to leave Atlantic City. But the casinos in Connecticut are very friendly to community events).
Good luck.

The first thing you need to do is give them plenty of advanced notice. Corporation do not move fast. Find companies or organization that have similar clients and customers as you do. If you are dealing with Music, look for radio stations, music stores, even book stores.
Call them first, find out WHO you have to deal with, then send him or her a very nice letter (UPS or FedEx it) complete with programs for past years, information about your organization, ETC.
In addition yif you are a non-profit look for foundations that give grants.
Including a great sources
