A guy in France is claiming to have the world's longest poem at 7,600 verses: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060804/od_afp/francepoemoffbeat

I'm wondering how many verses Homer's Iliad had.

Does this mean 7600 verses of more than 1 line each (like teh verses of a song)? Homer's Iliad contains more than 15600 lines of poetry (known as verses), but the French poem could be longer depending upon the number of lines in each of the 7600 verses.

The Iliad had, and still has, 15,693 lines of verse, and therefore beats our French friend by a mile!
