my husband doesn't have the best credit history either and i don't have any at all so this is going to affect us or what can we do?

You could go on-line to Lending Tree and try them out. It actually works if you don't mind a bunch of mortgage companies calling you. My husband and I did it and we ended up with 2 different companies bidding over our mortgage.We ended up with a good rate on a 30 year fixed.
