Yes, it is common for yeast infections to itch.
Yeast infections can be caused my many things.
The yeast is always there, at balance with a bacteria which keeps it in check. If the yeast production is increased, the balance is lost and a yeast infection occurs.
Things that can upset this balance are:
Antibiotics, steroids, and birth control pills.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy and prior to menstruation.
Frequent exposure to semen.
Cleansing products, such as soaps and douches often do more harm than good, causing yeast infections.
Wearing tight underwear and jeans.
The looser your clothing is, the better off you are. Most women get a yeast infection at some point in their lives. You can buy chemical treatments for it, or use a home remedy (found on the site listed as my source) - home remedies are often more effective than chemical ones and much cheaper. If you don't treat it at all, it will go away on its own with a little time.

Well-since I have had about a hundred I am QUITE informed. Yes-it itches like crazy, and you may scratch until you bleed, making it sore and painful.
To help, simply sit in water for about 5-10 minutes, each time the itch starts. This helps immensely. Be careful about washing with soap because once you scratch and it gets sore the soap will sting. You can try just swishing the soap in the water and not putting it right on you, or just gently pressing a washcloth with mild soap against you.
What I discovered many years ago is that after sex I must take a shower within 12 hours. If I wait longer than that I will get a yeast infection. It is almost as if I am allergic to semen if it stays on me very long. Try washing up well after sex to avoid yeast infections.

Depending on which medication you're taking and what it says on the box....it will take 3-7 days to get rid of that. I found that Monistat is the best product to use. Cost is about $15 from your local pharmacy off the shelf. Figure out how you got it and stay away from that. Bleach your underwear so it won't come back. Wearing thongs causes a lot of yeast infections in women. If you've had sex, and the infection keeps coming back, it may be the male has the infection and keeps spreading it to you. In that case tell him to get checked out by a doctor.

Yes, you itch horribly sometimes. Take a shower not a bath and be quick. Yeast like moistness.

a vinegar and water douche often relieves the itch of yeast infections. I have douched and then applied the antifungal cream after and not had any itching as a result.

Yes! Take a shower and use an over the counter cream directly on your vaginal area where it itches like monistat cream or vagisil until the meds kick in.

The itching can be horrible. Clean area well and thoroughly dry. Wear only cotton underwear..not just a cotton crotch..the whole thing should be 100% cotton.
