Here is a convient list of all the things we liberals know are superior ideas:

Universal Healthcare - Current Medical practices are costing the government and individuals too much. Americans should have to choose between living a normal life and purchasing healthcare. To add to this, preventative medicine saves money in the long run by reducing the cost of long hospital stays. Prescription drugs would also be cheaper under a system where 250 million people by there drugs at one time.

Balanced budget- I'm not going to go on a tangent about war spending, but current deficits hurt America all around. The value of the dollar is weakened, and the value of work in america suffers. Economic indicators have shown on a number of occations that a balance budget provides a more fruitfull marketplace. I'm not referencing Clinton directly on that one, but it is our most recent example.

Abortion- This is a tough one. I'm not going to say that RTL is wrong, this is America and people have a right to express there opinion. But when stem cell research is blocked due to an insane assumption that somehow this relates to abortion, I am frustrated. It's these kind of ultra conservative thoughts that slow the progress of science.

Affirmative action - Yes racism is alive, and no I won't hear a single line of how unfair it is to give a minority a job just because. These policies are a balancing act. That's it.

There are more, but I don't want to take up a whole page. I belive I have made my point.

Many solutions are being put forward by Democrats, and Republicans who are pulling away from Bush. If you have time and really want to know what some of these proposals are, try watching 1/2 hour of news a day -- news that covers the facts and is not mostly opinion. Sheppard Smith and Wolf Blitzer would be ok, and as a right wing person, you could probably tolerate their programs.

You may say that Democrats don't really get very far with their proposals. This is either because they don't have ideas, can't think through policies or maybe it's because the gov't is almost totally controlled by Republicans. Could that be most of the reason?? My goodness, as Rumsfield would say.

I'm actually a republican, but someone who tries to look at an issue from all sides. Things I don't like:

1. The Federal Deficit. There's no reason it should be as inflated as it is. I mean c'mon! Government spending is at an all time high. Do I need to spell out how to stop it, or are you smart enough to know?

2. Stop hiding the environmental impact that is happening as far as global warming. I mean if I can see the impacts on the news (And I'm not talking the over inflated hype. I'm talking about seeing the ice shelves actually breaking away by viewing satellite pics.) Did you know that when Clinton was in office (yeah i know...Clinton.) he did enforce a law on major industry that if something broke down, then they were required to replace it with something that was more environmentally friendly. No harm no foul right? Well when Bush got into office, that law disappeared...fast. Why?

I could really go on and on. But these are just a couple things to examine and chew on for a bit.

Have you listened to the news lately? There have been numerous experts whose advice has been ignored by the current administration concerning the Iraqi war. They have had numerous ideas on more favorable courses of action that might not have left Iraq in the midst of a civil war and still fighting their invaders. the solutions are right in front of bush, but he has ignored them. The decisions have been made by a very tight inner circle who have systematically excluded anyone whose ideas threaten their agenda. I am sure their decisions have been personally profitable.

One idea is to have the country vote heavily democratic, so much so that no one can falsify the election results. This would truly be a mandate of the people, the next step is to have the newly elected leaders send out feelers to all the offened nations and, one by one, open up talks and begin to make ammends.

Stop using our tax money to pay for Israeli offense. Israel's army would crumble. Work with the UN to set up peace keeping troops and work with the Arab nations to allow Israel to exist as a non-threat.

Have people in office who do not financially benefit from te war machine. give up control of Iraq to the UN. Even if Iraq has to be split into smaller countries to give each faction control over their own destinies.

Provide the philosophical atmospere that will allow states to give equal rights to homosexuals, if not marriage, then a legal union providing the same rights.

That will certainly fill up the agenda for the first 4 years of a new administration

Who's whining now?

all you guys do is whine about the liberals. you aren't any better. if it doesn't inculde bombing someone, you nutty cons won't hear it!!

thats why the two party system doesn't work - libs and cons are both whiners. what solution has come about that a con has thought of in last few years? besides tax cuts and more spending (which equates to, "i'm gonna buy a car, and to pay for it - i'm gonna go from a full time to a part time job!! yuck yuck").

You both sicken me. YOur whining is the SOLE reason why we are divided and THE SOLE reason why we will be conquered. You aren't about solutions.

You monkeys (left and right) are about winning. Doesn't matter the platform.

1) Cut spending. The Clinton administration had a deficit-free budget, so we know it can be done. Spending like there's no tomorrow is irresponsible, and trying to pin the blame on the Democrats for wanting to fix the mess is just childish.

2) Try diplomacy before declaring war on every country perceived as an enemy. This war on terror is a joke. The real terrorists are still running loose while Bush satisfies his personal grudges and pretends it's helping somehow.

3) Show some concern for the planet. Even if you don't believe in global warming, you can't deny that we have smog, water pollution, and toxic waste dumps. You can't pretend that these things don't exist or that they'll go away if you ignore them.

4) Bring back democracy and the checks and balances that go with it. Declaring that everyone who disagrees with a fascist policy is un-American is just further proof that America is becoming a fascist state. I don't want to see the country go to the extreme left (communism) or the extreme right (fascism). Middle of the road is the way to go. Today's Republicans are promoting fascism without even realizing it. They're so oblivious to history they actually believe that there's no such thing as too far to the right. I guess they don't remember a certain leader named Adolf Hitler. You conservatives who refuse to recognize that Hitler's politics were right-wing are just as out of touch as the neonazis who claim the Holocaust never happened. As the saying goes, "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

5) Stop dismantling the Bill of Rights. Our forefathers put it in the Constitution for a reason. It's for everyone's protection, even those who don't know enough to appreciate it. Separation of church and state is the only way to have true freedom of religion (would you really want a state-imposed church?) Protection from unlawful search and seizure and the right to a fair trial were intended to protect the innocent from unlawful imprisonment. Freedom of speech is one of our most valuable rights because without it we'd be living in the world of George Orwell's "1984". Ultra-conservatives have been trying to do away with these rights. The rest of us just want them the way our forefathers intended. That means equal rights for everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual persuasion. Making exceptions for any group opens the door for discrimination against all minorities.

Let me give you the short answer: NO, they don't have any solutions and they can't fix anything. Liberals believe that complaining is a way to bring about positive change, but what they don't realize is SOMEONE has to actually DO SOMETHING in order to affect change. Conservatives believe in getting off your lazy @$$ and trying something -- ANYTHING -- if you don't like your world. Liberals expect the government to do everything for them, yet they *****, gripe, whine, moan and complain if the government infringes upon their precious "rights." What's wrong with this picture?

Canada's federal Liberal party ruled from 1993 to 2006, and all they did was break promises, commit crimes and scandals, free murderers with child molesters, bash the US and Israel (creating disputes with the US that hurt Canada economically), and ruin Canada's reputation worldwide - oh and they gave us gay marriage against our will.

The Conservatives have been in power for six months, and already things are getting better. Promises are being kept, taxes are lower, relations with the US are improving with disputes being settled, criminals are being PUNISHED (gasp!), and our reputation is recovering.

So the answer is NO - Liberals (and small-l liberals, too) have NO solutions, because THEY are the problem.

Whether you are lib, con, or whatever, no one has solutions for anything. We are all too busy shouting at each other, no one wants to listen and reason.
That's why the government is controling the people, the upper class control us all. They are just laughing knowing that we can not do anything about it, so we fight each other, we can't fight government, freedom of expression doesnt exist anymore. You can exercise it, but there is no common goal for the country.
Every group for themselves, with the government dictating the policies and final say for their own benefits.

Bush's disastous foreing policy. Bush's war in Iraq was "optional". It's turned into a quagmire. He removed Saddam Hussein and won the praise and appreciation of the Iranian Mullahs. Now the Shiites are in charge in Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon. Plus Bush killed 2575 American troops in his optional war. Where are those WMD's anyway?
