I find it so difficult to understand when teens talk of being bored. Bored would have been my life at your age - NO CELL PHONES, NO CABLE TV, LITTLE OR NO MOVIES, NO REALITY TV, BEDTIME AT 9:00, You guys have everything to occupy your minds, yet you do not take advantage of it. Why? I know school is about to start and the question I ask all children, students, teens as I go about is this: HOW MANY BOOKS DID YOU READ THIS SUMMER? If I had to take a poll of about 30 people I asked - 2 told me thay they had read at least 3-5 books! TWO PEOPLE!!! What does that say to you? You have talents, gifts and imaginations that are going to waste. READ! Write in your journal, diary; create a portfolio of your family and friends, sew, crochet, knit, clean your room, re-decorate, help your parents do something extra around the house (washing and cleaning all the special silverware or china), have a yard sale, bake, or learn to cook, get friends together and make something (food) and take it to the homeless, pick up cans or bottles in your neighborhood, babysit, design a photo album, get books and materials ready for the new school year, write songs, poetry, design an agenda/time management calendar for the year, create calendars to sell. There are many things you could have been doing and there is still time. Get busy. Get off internet and do something positive in your life. Can you skate? ride a bike? Teach some small child? Visit or volunteer at the children's hospital - come on now - get to work......

Ready for ideas:

read; do something to help your parents around the house while they're at work; write a letter; straighten up your room by putting things away, getting rid of stuff you no longer want/need; call up a friend you haven't spoken with in a long time; volunteer at a local animal shelter.

The point is: nobody has any excuses to be bored when the world is filled with interesting things to do...and people out there need help!

Take the focus off yourself, and think about other people.
