I think 'open water' about two scuba divers who return to the surface to find their tour boat gone, is pretty sad. the whole film is about them on their own in the big wide ocean, eventually they just die.

it would be a big white elephant in anyones dvd collection
also grizzly man was quite depressing as was the movie irreversible when the woman is raped.I cant belive it was released.

I think it was called The Last Snow of Summer (something like that anyway). I've never found it since but watched it from a vid shop about 25 years ago (doesnt time fly?). About a boy dying of leukemia. I was still crying 20 mins after the end.

When I was a child, the saddiest movie that influenced my mind all the time was a film named " the cure" ..Last 5 years ago , the saddiest movie I had ever seen was The English Patient.. and now.

Definitely Schindlers List. It is a true story of all of the Jews that were tortured and mutilated during the holocaust. It is also a story of how one man (Oscar Schindler) saved many Jews from this horrible fate. Very sad and very disturbing as well.
