Weight in society today?

Who out there thinks Marylin Monroe was sexy... she was amazingly a size 14, which is an average size for women today. Are we as a society putting to much emphasis on being thin? When models have to be under a size four to truly be considered beautiful?

If not Mariyln Monroe... maybe Queen Latifah or another women of stature that is seen by the public eye as beautiful.

A lot of it is perception, based on what the media shows us to be an ideal shape/size/color. I would say that rather than depending on how one looks like, the basis for beauty should be how one feels and how a person sees himself. In the end, if we feel we are beautiful, we are. Regardless of weight. (Within the bounds of good health, that is).

I think Marilyn Monroe was beautiful. Today's society puts a lot of emphasis on weight. That's why so many actresses are thin.

I think Marilyn Monroe was gorgeous!! Yes, we are definitely holding young girls and women to an impossibly high standard. When girls look through fashion magazines and see the rail-thin models, then they start believing that that look is "normal," which it isn't!!

The feeling can start to grow that there is something wrong with them because they don't look like that, and an unhealthy preoccupation develops as to how they can achieve thinness.

I think Marilyn was a cow. There is NOTHING sexy about fat. I'd kill myself if I were that size. And I like Queen Latifah but I personally do not view her as beautiful, she's huge too.

I thought she was ugly. There is nothing sexy about FAT. The only fat sexy woman I know is Queen Latifa
