yeah it was amazing. The story is so original and thought-provoking. Jake Gyllenhaal did an amazing job in the lead role as a troubled teen.

Donnie Darko - This was a movie that I found very difficult to understand at first viewing. The plot involves the world ending in a little more than more than twenty-eight days. Donnie Darko knows this because Frank, the human-sized rabbit he hallucinates, told him so. This movie defies any normal sense of categorization. It has elements of teen comedy, wicked satire, horror, suspense, science fiction, and various other genres all colliding into one, bizarre, compelling, and very watchable movie. The year is 1988, and the Darko family lives in the midst of suburban Middlesex. Darko is troubled. He is schizophrenic, not taking his medication, and up to this point, is prone to antisocial behavior and sleepwalking. This all changes when a jet engine crashes into the Darko home. The only problem is, there is no commercial airlines missing an engine! I was left confused and asking many questions after the movie was over. I have wanted to see it again however, I don't know if my brain can connect to such "disconnetion". I don't want to have to "figure a movie " out . It takes away from the enjoyment. I don't mind movies that make you think - but not when it's thought provoking to the point that you have to deal with mental issues as in this movie. It was too stressful to enjoy.

I did. I saw it on Showtime Beyond just a month ago. It's a cult classsic from what I now hear. I did like it by the way. It had so many different elements. The one that stands out is the 8ft rabbit and space, time. No matter the film holds your attention. Some parts was satire. But what made Donnie Darko excellent from my perspective is the fact it had a steller cast. And that cast made the movie work. But it's a film that would make u think in my opioin.

the problem with Richard Kelly is you can't understand his movies unless you seek a secondary source, is this case, the donnie darko website. i've heard in order to grasp his new movie coming out soon, you have to read the six graphic novels released before it. bullsh!t. he's a hack. a "puzzle" film's answer should lie within the framework of the story itself, and with donnie darko, it does not. the only thing his films make you think is why you paid to see them.

Donnie darko was an amazing movie. The concepts were really well done and it was a little trippy. I had to watch it a few times to truly appreciate it.
I'd recomend this movie to almost anyone .. but you have to have patience and a mindset for a really good movie (not an action packed - )

It was too confusing for me to really get into. The soundtrack was pretty cool though.
