I have heard that you can buy something like a lamp that shines "stars" all around your room so it looks like you're out camping somewhere. I want my room to be filled with "planets and stars", etc. so that it can look like outer space when I turn my lights out. Where can I get something that will help me make my room like that?

C'mon people, get serious, age has absolutely NOTHING to do with this. We are talking about handpainted murals, basically fancy artwork, check out the links provided below, this is not kid stuff. Really!
There are professionals who do that custom artwork, they paint a horizon all around and then do the stars, galaxies or whatever, so when you turn off the lights you have a wonderful view of the stars and planets, this artwork is not visible during the day, but once you turn out the lights they are awesome, and last many many times longer than the usual glow in the dark paint you can buy anywhere, or little plastic stars meant for kids. Try the following links:

http://www.cosmicrooms.com/
Check out the costs first, this is custom made and the prices vary, but the end effect is wonderful. This is not your usual do it yourself stuff.
Luck

Try a Star Theater(See link below). It simple to use and portable, best of all, you don't have to mess up a room with paint & sticker.
Also, if you use glow-in-the-dark paint or reflective tape it might be hard to sleep sometimes.

You can buy glow-in-the dark stars, stick them on the ceiling and walls.. Probably other items as well. Great for kids.
Where? Maybe a store that specializes in kids stuff-Toys for US ? You have to look around.

paint the roof of your room black then draw one or two planets but dont over do it with the planets because your going to want to make it look really large and open everywhere else. then go to wal-mart and buy the little glow in the darko plastic stars and stick them everywhere. then wait till night time and gaze up looking at your new space room.

okay, this might depend on how well you sleep. I would get a star theater, like one person said, if you don't like to sleep with tons of light... now.. paint works, glow in the dark things.. me personally, i am actually getting ready to do this.. I am going to but wooden boxes on the borders of my ceiling and but black lights in them.. this will minimize light and make things glow better, then get glow in the dark, or white paint and do your galaxies and stars, as well as planets and things... (ceiling black or dark purple/blue) Be careful about fire hazards though. Also, you could punch holes in cardboard to fit through some clear (white) Christmas lights and hand them on your ceiling..

There is a lamp that will project lights that look like stars, my friend used to have one. Try Bed Bath and Beyond for something like that, or Spencers Gifts.

there are stickers that you can buy to stick to your walls that glow in the dark. the good think about them is that they only glow for a short while after you shut off your light, so its not too bright in you room. i used to have them, and i loved them. They have all different shapes too, stars and planets and commits

You could buy one of those disco lights with stars on them and move them at relatively slow speed.
Other things that you can do is paint your ceiling black and your walls in twilight colors, buy fluorescent stars, planets that you stick on the ceiling and walls that glow at night. see the links below for those items:

Hope this helps

I know you can buy a 'day-glo' type of paint. You could cut stencils and spray paint them on. They also have adhesive 'glowing' material you could cut into shapes! Check with a paint store!
