All you see now on MTV and BET is nasty vidoe hos, grills, eye-blinding bling, and 24 inch rims. What ever happen to "The Message"? What ever happened to talking about the issues that are really happening to the Black community now. Why has rap/hip-hop gotten so materialistic and pointless? Why have women in hip-rap only been reduced to hos, baby makers, baby mamas, and acessories?

F’shizzle (just kidding)

Yes it has become too commercial and lost a lot of true meaning. The fact that I, a thirty something white guy, can relate to most rap music on the air should tell you how truly mainstream and pointless it has become.

It seems to happen to everything when it gets too popular, people make more money by diluting it and making it more and more mainstream. It becomes less about the message and the voices and more about the formula for making money. It happened to "rock & roll" it happened to "alternative music" (who even says these terms anymore).

Grandmaster Flash where are you with a new "the Message?"
