I like the sound of that much better.

You hit the nail on the head! When you look at the facts; it took much less than 50% of the people to put him in office. We have what? 12% of the people that actually vote? I'm surprised they can come up with a 35% approval rating, and I think this is just a way the media stays on the good side with all the people. You know it is bad business to say bad things about your leader, so spice it up by giving him an approval rating. That does sound better, but when you figure in the margin of error he probably doesn't have 65%, its more like 75% and growing fast!

Actually the polls are not always an accurate indication of the truth because many of them are completely biased to the left in their questioning of those being polled; and, most polls do not ask a wide enough sampling of people to be truly representative of the real consensus of the American people. The best thing would be to ignore the polls and do your own research on any politician or political issue you are interested in. Don't be an ignorant crowd follower and mindlessly say stupid things when you are not informed enough to know what you are talking about.

George Bush is a decent and moral man who is president at a very crucial time in our history. He is doing the best he can and would do even better with the support of all Americans. We are in a war that terrorist started, not George Bush, and it is a proven fact that if we are a divided country we do not stand much chance to win. If we loser this war, we will all die, and we can blame no one but the ignorant, leftist, big mouth crowd followers with no mind of their own, who have a selfish tendency to care only about the inconvenience to their own life style, and nothing about their fellow Americans or the TRUTH.

Bush does not have to worry about his approval rating because he will not run again and since he not like Kerry or Hillary the day to day polls do not bother him. You can complain all you want but he will complete his term of office and retire with the knowledge his actions were based on His feelings not the daily polls. It is not easy making hard decisions and although I am displeased with the handling of Iraq it is no worse than McNamara did during the Viet Nam mess. The dummycrats did not single him out for the bad decisions made then. The anti war movement was not directed at the mishandling of the Democrats but the very presence of our people in Nam.

Because the question asks do you approve of what President Bush is doing. Just because 35% approve, does not mean that the rest disapprove. How many people did not answer?

Because the internal polling results often come from the White House briefing and even though the number is low, they would rather have the news spin the results in a positive (approval) way instead of negative (disapproval).

Why do we say Hillary has a 40% approval rating? I like "a 60% disapproval rating" better.

Well, actually, we would have to account for those who have no opinion whatsoever.

So it's more like a 35% approval rating, a 40% apathy factor, and a 25% disapproval rating.

Hmm, I love the answers to your question -- essentially that the polls mean nothing (no, they're asking dogs), that only liberals are being asked (35% is waaaaaaaaaaaaay outside of the ~3% margin of error), and that you're just stupid for asking. I guess some people are just in denial that a large majority of the country really does think that George Bush sucks. They can't stand being in the minority, so they deny it with no real rational basis for doing so.

Personally, I like 35% approval rating ... I like the emphasis on how few people actuallly like him.

It does sound a lot better. I bet if the truth were known since these surveys are usually of just around 1000 people - that his disapproval rating is closer to 70 - 75%. Worst president in US history.

Because republicans are king of deceipt and manipulation.

35% approval, allows them to make you think that the remaining 65% are indifferent or in doubt.

And when all news channels in the world report that homes with nothing but civilians, women and children are hit and killed in a bomb strike, showing live images all over the world that are undeniable, including other western media, Fox news will report "and alleged civilian target may have been hit (no images shown!), but it is unclear yet if they weren't simply terrorists disguised as civilians".
... before they change subject and talk about how neat and cool and advanced those weapons are that the US and Isralian millitary uses, or petty news like the neighbourhood dog having been lost and found again.

The strategy is clear.. take a piece of fact out of context and exploit it maximally, like if 1 person is killed by a terrorist, interview his whole family and take excerps from fundamentalists making statements that can be taken further out of context, to cause fear in americans, so they will become less critical and think in more primitive terms (logical consequence of fear), and when there are undeniable facts, don't deny them, but create enough doubt about them because that too defeats counter arguments.

These are common propaganda techniques exercised in US media all the time. Another example is current US economic health.. while dollar is dropping, one bad news is reported after another, such as the extremely limited and insufficient job growth in the USA, they managed to make you believe things are going well, by manipulating the market and numbers (such as banks buying back large numbers of features).. so stock market rises, and there is absolutely no logic to it (ask any economist), other than intentional manipulation of figures.. I could go on.

Oh, I almost forgot.. how did Bush win the election in the first place?

Ignorance is bliss.
