I thought it would last longer....

Am I playing too rough on my bed?

It depends on the quality of the mattress. Good mattress and box spring sets range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars. The cheaper ones don't last too long. A good one should last 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance. That includes flipping it every couple of weeks.

It could be that your mattress wasn't the correct firmness for your back to begin with. If this is the case, you'll be better off buying a new one.

Maybe you just need to flip your mattress. Depending on the brand and how often you turn and flip your mattress, they can last up to 20 years.

Well my husband and I purchased a high quality one about 7 or 8 years ago and we were told it should last about 20 years. Yeah right, it's already killing our back (although we were trying to conceive for two of those years and well you know) !!

A few weeks ago when my husband and I talked with a matress salesman, he said the average matress lasts about 15 years.

It depends on what kind of mattres you have...I have a pillow-top mattress that's six years old...for me, it's the bed frame that's giving out ;)

My mom and dad had theirs for 23 years then gave it to me 5 years ago and I still have it. I wish I could afford a new one though. It is still in great shape though believe it or not.
