Grass uses a lot of water, and the emissions from a lawn mower are about 3 times that of a car. Grass is not an eco alternative...If she wants concrete slabs to reduce maintenance, try a succulent garden, some concrete pavers (can be pretty and cheap) and a patch of grass where you can hang out and do whatever you want to do. be creative!

check out sunset magazine or garden design magazine. they both have websites.

Explain that grass, plants, trees ect. help cool the earth. It may take a little more work than a concrete slab, but it'll be worth it. Plus, it will look so much better!

The concrete might be easier to keep up but grass is better. Grass cuts down on noise. It is cooler on your feet and makes the building cooler. It is prettier. Nothing is uglier than bare concret. Grass is warmer in the winter and cold and sterile like concrete. I hope you win. Not only that but it smells better.

Grass is cooler. Concrete absorbs heat. Try that one.

Get your own place without a roommate, then you can do whatever you want.

Who says your roomie has to change her mind, you have to compromise, maybe you should change your mind.
