I was just wondering,because i never counted before but I want to get into the habit of doing it. Thanks any answers would be appreciated.

you count starting with the last day or your period, to the first day of your next period, but not all women hava a 28 day cycle, it varies, heres a site, its short and sweet and will explain it well.

The first day of bleeding is considered Day One of a new cycle, and they may not always be consistently 28 days long. Some women are that regular, but most are not. That's why the first day of bleeding is used, because it's an obvious change.

you count from the first day of flow. That is the begining of your cycle. you will ovulate about 14 days into your cycle. Not every woman goes exactly 28 days you will have to keep track of how many days are normal for you.
