Goose feather is softer

For a start you don't want feathers, you need goose or duck down pilows. The best is goose down. It is finer, softer and, unfortunately for the goose, you get a lot more per goose plucked.

HOnestly it depends on what you can afford. Duck feathers are cheaper--and they tend to clump up a bit so you have to shake them more often. But you'll have to do that for a down pillow or comforter because they "clump". The big difference is that duck feathers are cheaper.

Eider [duck] down.

It is the collecting [enough] feathers to fill the pillow that decides the cost.
