If they lose their shell, they die. The shell is a part of their body... it is not the same as a hermit crab living in a shell. Hermit crabs can leave their shell and move to different ones. A turtle/tortoise's shell is part of their bone structure.

They can't actually "lose" their shell.

Dead. Turtles and tortoises have spines that are attached to their shells.

It will die without it's shell. It like taking your spinal cord out of your back. Umm how are you supposed to move? You're dead! Why do you ask?

Their shell is with their body. Underneath the shell is their organs!! They will obviously die. They are not like those cartoons where they can leave their shell. they are attached to them. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO KILL THEM!!!
