A SUPERB MUSIC COLLECTION. Very in-depth and varied. Has lots of different style songs to be used if the occasion requires. Has songs which have great beats.

Knows the PERFECT SONG FOR THE MOMENT. A truly great DJ can sense the 'vibes' of the crowd and choose the song to match. Are they getting tired? Stick on something a bit slower like 'Unfinished Sympathy.' Do they need livening up? Play on 'Living on a Prayer.' Are there lots of loved-up couples? 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' is the song for them. Is the dance floor lacking in girls? Get them up there by playing 'Dancing Queen.' Is the dance floor lacking in lads? 'Everybody Get Up' will get them going. Are there any older men in the crowd? Stick on early 70s glam rock and watch them dance like your Dad at a wedding. Is the place full of silly pissheads? 'Cotton Eye Joe' is their tune!

Last year, I was out getting pissed up, and a fight broke out. The dance floor cleared, which is a DJ's worst nightmare, but he wasn't worried. He just stuck on YMCA, and within seconds, it was packed again.

Another DJ stock in trade is the ability to SURPRISE PEOPLE. A really good jockey will play the classic party or dancefloor anthems, and also throw in the odd song which people do not expect (ie View To A Kill, Daydream Believer, I'm Always Here).

They will also know which songs to play at certain 'stages' of a night. ie Livin' la Vida Loca for the mid-party 'clubbers high' phase. Something sentimental and very romantic for the slow dance at the end (Stick Witchu, Wishing On a Star, You Are Not Alone). Something fun and lovey-dovey for the last song of the night (ie Waiting For A Star To Fall)

Finally, EXCELLENT MIXING ABILITIES. Changing seamlessly from one record to the next. Matching the beats-per-minute (not always easy, especially if for instance, you have a reggae song with two or three seperate beats). Phasing out one bassline and phasing in another. Juxtaposing one song which stops suddenly, to another which has a very sharp intro. Sometimes a DJ will even give you a 'sneak preview' of a song which is coming up, halfway through one which is already playing.

And having a great set of decks always helps!

a truly great dj will have an entire selection of songs ready to play on request, they will play songs that others will like that they may not and won't justplay songs they like or think people will like, the dj will be able to make people feel at ease and not make small talk just because it's their job. they will have the roo singing along and maybe a few people dancing.

Simple answer... the audience.

If the audience are up for a party you can play anything and they will enjoy themselves. I know, I played "When I'm Cleaning Windows" in a nightclub and still had a full dancefloor.

If the audience are not up for it then you can play anything and they won't move.

It's not the DJ, it's the crowd.

you're gaining wisdom of that having money does not quickly mean you have flavor or type. i do no longer think of there is something incorrect with spending a lot on a marriage. I actual have been to countless mind-blowing weddings that value nicely over $one hundred,000. yet I actual have found out that a lot of human beings attempt to apply a marriage to coach off how a lot money they have, fairly than to concentration on offering a sturdy time for his or her travellers. All you could incredibly do is to objective to take the extreme street and ignore approximately them. they're probably in simple terms excited approximately their wedding ceremony plans and don't understand of a tasteful thank you to talk approximately it, different than focusing on the cost. on a similar side, you would be able to additionally be mushy to the cost distinction of the two weddings, and could be reading extra in to what they're asserting than is mandatory.

2 Biggest things are:

1. Beat matching ability
2. Song Selection

Don't try & please all of the people as that is impossible, if you can please the majority you will do well, a good personality also helps, plus a good sound system & a good & pleasant voice, having the ability to be cheeky without being 2 personal or rude & knowing your audience, always try to give the people what they want & steer clear of things like football songs, cos if u play one for somebody you will always get someone who is gonna say "You played that clubs song what about mine"

One that keeps the dance floor crammed. The DJ at my club plays some dodgy songs at times & the dance floor empties, but he doesn't take the track off!!!! I know I would if that was me.
