Mosquitos are number one, because of all of the diseases they carry and because they often spoil the joy of being on rivers and general outdoor life.

Roaches are running in second because they are so annoying, dirty and prolific. No one has really proven they carry disease. But, they have to and it's hard to tell their mess from mouse mess.

Mice and rats are dirty disease carrying animals and really hard to get rid of. They are mammals, you know. It's not like you can stomp them or vacuum them up and be humane. And, mice are fast movers and hard to catch and rats big and often dangerous. However, you have a better chance of keeping them out of your house than avoiding mosquitos.

While we are on this subject, a clean and easy way to get rid of wasps, bees, and potentially poisoness spiders who won't leave your house in another way is the vacuum cleaner. Place the nozzle against the floor first to create a suction. I don't know if this works for mosquitos but mosquitos can be safely shot down with a squirt bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol.

I'm afraid if I'm being honest, thinking about levels of violence, destructiveness, uncontrolled breeding and impact on the environment, it would have to be human beings.
