I agree that you may want to think about buying Gemini's to begin with. Technics are a big investment and I know alot of people who have gone that route just to have them collect dust.

In terms of learning, it is just about repetition during hours of beat matching practice. However, most large cities have classes you can take to learn about DJing. I know NY does and I would be shocked if London did not have classes either.

There are courses in various colleges in South London but you might be abroad so that is not very help full.

Decks are fine and so is the mixer now all you need it to be taught how to use them.

maybe you should start off with geminis.
apparently they are better for begginers.
cheaper too!
if you get good go for an upgrade and get the 1210s.
the best way to learn is through ur mates if they are into it to.
dont go straight for the bad boys though coz you might not get into it and youll end up wasting money.
