Yes unfortunatly it can. However ultrasound used in the hospital or office setting to look at baby, or gallstones, or vascular issues are not strong enough to cause "burns within the body cavitiy." However many sports therapists use a form of ultrasound to help loosen and heal muscles and can therefore have the power (gain) turned up high enough to heat the muscels and potentially burn them. But nothing to worry about. People who use ultrasound are trained on it's use and know how to avoid the small chance of it causing harm. Hope this helps!

ultrasound is just that - high sound. at no time, if you are telling us the truth, does convection/heat come into play. therefore, how would a burn/friction occur? tissue burns or any kind of burns are the end result of the cause-heat/friction. the high or ultrasound event you're talking about, i surmise, would be the same as standing directly in front of an amplifier with only vibrations coming from the speaker, not actual sound. or when a tractor trailer hooks up to its cab and drops its load onto the waiting bed. the same large present THUMP happens. insides shake & quake but shouldn't burn (unless something else is happening that you didn't tell us). get it? got it? good!

Contrary to misinformation found on some websites, no harmful affects of diagnostic ultrasound have been found.
If there were..... the ultrasound techs and their babies would be all screwed up because we scan ourselves all the time.

No - it only uses sound waves, not heat or radiation.
