Well, I promised myself that I would never get divorced. I thought that people who got divorced just don't want to work out their problems and so they take the easy road. Then my husband left me, and I had no choice but to sign the divorce papers. I didn't really break the promise, it just happened to me.

The other thing is that I thought that single mothers were losers by sleeping with somebody that would leave them or by not being married. I thought that would be the hardest thing in life that you could ever do, and I wouldn't want to be one of them. Well, in December, I will be a single mom with no father in sight. I didn't do it on purpose, but now I can sympathize with others in my situation.

In both cases, I was super judgemental and critical of other people, from attitudes that were around me. (Church, parents, etc...) And really I was the one that needed a lesson in humility.

I put my child through his parent's divorce.
I come from a family that believes it's sacrilege to divorce but both my parents have been through it multiple times (hypocrites.).
Anyhoo I've seen divorce from the child's perspective and promised way before I even understood the meaning of marriage not to ever go through that as an adult, and to never allow a child to be subjected to the same painful confusion I went through.
I married at a young age for the wrong reasons but hung in my marriage through the worst of circumstances because of my beliefs. He ended up leaving (thank God himself) which freed me from the obligation of my marriage promise.
Took about an hour after he left to consider how things were going and where they would continue to go after any kind of decision and then got cracking on the divorce itself.
Worse hour of my life.
Anyhoo the promise to never divorce must have been made oh about 12 years from the day I made the conscience decision to break it. The other half about involving a child was formed two years later, making the promise in it's entirety made to myself 10 years before I broke it.
Hope that answers your questions and Thanks for the pts.

I always told myself, If all else fails, I still have my pride. And I promised myself to never let it go. Unfortunally, Human error exists, and I lost my pride. I went to a party a year ago, got plastered, and lost my virginity to a guy who I dont even know his name. By now, I have gained It back. There are now two thing in this world i wont break, my pride and my word.

download Paris Hilton's "song". I promised myself this months ago when all the radio stations were only playing little clips of it and then making fun of it. Last night, I downloaded it. I am a loser.

Forgive my ex-wife for the manner she contributed to the raising of our children. As the years have passed and the children have grown into adults I realized that it was lack of ability and not laziness or neglect.and as the children came of age turned to be very good parents because the know what not to do.
