A= Axiom, D= Definition, P= Proposition, C= Corollary
---------------------------------
CONCLUSION, P15, follows necessarily from the premises :
P15: Whatever is, is in God, and nothing can either be or be conceived without God. by P14, D3, D5, A1
P14: Besides God, no substance can be, or be conceived. by D6, P11
P11: God, or substance consisting of infinite attributes, each one of which expresses eternal and infinite essences, necessarily exists. by A7, P7
P7: It pertains to the nature of substance to exist. by P6C , D1
P6C: Hence it follows that there is nothing by which substances can be produced, for in nature there is nothing but substances and their affectations (as is evident from A1, D3 and D5). But substance cannot be produced by substance (P6). Therefore absolutely there is nothing by which substance can be produced
P6: One substance cannot be produced by another substance. by P5, P2, P3.
P2: Two substances having different attributes have nothing in common with one another. by D3
P3: If two things have nothing in common with one another, one cannot be the cause of the other. by A5, A4
P5: In nature there cannot be two or more substances of the same nature or attribute. by P4, P1, D3, A6
P1: Substance is by nature prior to its affectations. by D3, D5
P4:Two or more distinct things are distinguished from one another, either by the difference of the attribues of the substances, or by the difference of their affectations. by A1, D3, D5, D4

i believe the taoists realized that prior to spinoza by thousands of years, and were even able to keep god out of it. the one substance is "energy"/"consciousness": chi . the vedic/hindu and, as a matter of fact, most early esoteric "pagan" practices were aware of this "truth", as well. and, if i'm not mistaken quantum physics and its "successors" are returning to the reality of this taoist approach. in addition, come to think of it, the aboriginal peoples of australia, a continuous culture for the past 60,000 years knew this too..

Because ultimately there is only one substance. If you believe this and you believe in God then you believe that everything is part of God - that everything is just a manifestation of God.
