I always use http://www.bigcharts.com. I've found it very effective when trying to figure out my tax clients' stock basis. The only thing that sometimes ties me up in knots is when companies get their ticker symbol kicked off, like Sears did. Now, if you put in Sears old symbol "S", all you get is info for Sprint/Nextel. I don't think any website can solve that problem! :)

If you have access to online stock buying, such as Ameritrade, then they have research tools. You can chart a stock and go back as much as 10 years in his history.
