Defiantly. If you have a female hamster that is alone without a male in the same cage she can't get pregnant and have babies. If you have a female and a male hamster in the same cage chances are she will get pregnant and have babies so if you are looking to avoid that make sure she is with another female if you want two! Of course with dogs and cats you can have them spayed or neutered but I have never heard of anyone doing that to a hamster.

Also, on a side note to help you with your hamster, remember to always give him/her water! I had a white dwarf hamster and we went away for a few days, he ran out of water, and we came back to find him lifeless in his wheel :(!!!!

of course you can! if you get 2 female hamsters make sure that u put them in separate cages or they might fight. if you want a male too don't put them in the same cage. this way you won't have any baby hamsters to worry about. they are a lot of fun to play with. if you do get a male make sure one is way younger that the other one. i had a hamster once and she was so much fun! my brother had a boy and i had a girl and when we put them together they fought so( his was younger) don't put them together and good luck with them

Of course, just don't put it with a male hamster. Get the hamster when it's very young. Good luck, I love hamsters, I'm 19 but my mom won't let me get another one because she gets sad when they die and I'm not allowed to have one in my college dorm.

sure thing. don't buy a male one then. there wont be any mating, there. in this case it looks like u can only have one hamster since the females love to try to mutilate each other. i know, coz mine always does that. can't remember how many i lost coz of them fighting. OR u can go to the vet and ask them to sterilise the males, i guess. that's what my sister did to hers.
