Never use those anti static cleaning cloth's as they do more harm then good, the best way of doing it is just wiping it over with a damp cloth, then drying it off afterwards using a dry wipe, not a duster, then you will have a nice clean TFT screen, make sure you do not press down to hard as you will damage the screen!

Don't use anything with Ammonia or Alcohol, esp. ammonia. Ammonia will damage the film on the LCD screen over time. I wouldn't use a paper towl because it leaves little pieces of paper on the screen, esp. if you get it in the corners or edges.

If you want to do it cheap, you can use distilled water and a non-abrasive cloth.

I use http://www.pixelclean.com . It works great, lasts a long time and works on a many media types, not just laptops. They sell the formula and microfiber clothes that work great.

Good luck

As the others have advised, just a damp cloth. No proprietary cleaners. And clean gently, don't apply pressure. Best thing to do is clean the screen when your PC is off - that way you can see you've cleaned it properly.

You can buy special wipes specifically made for this. You get a wet wipe and a dry one, I find they work really well. You can clean it with a damp cloth but it usually streaks, with these wipes you don't get any streaks at all. I have only used them at work so I haven't actually bought any myself, I imagine you would be able to buy them from PC world, or a similar store.
