Try a chemical such as round-up or triple 18 although that will kill everything best thing so you dont have much maintenance is to just kill it all. Till it up and lay down sod. The only resposibility you will have is to keep it watered and enjoy your new grass. Try throwing a chemical down to kill off weeds something strong though cuz noxious weeds are very hard to get rid of. You can try seeding but that could bring weeds back to life.

I'd suggest pulling out some of the bigger, more aggressive weeds. Maybe leave a good many of the rest and just mow over them. Diversity is good for the soil. It's impossible to have no weeds in a lawn, unless you have the staff and means that a golf course has.

Or, better yet, take out the lawn and put in a garden.

You have to pull them up by the roots making sure that the seeds don't spread. It's a long process, but when your good grass takes over (I would suggest St. Augustine), it will make it harder for the weeds to get started again. I would advise against weed killing chemicals, they just poison your environment. Start with a small area and just expand it some any day you have time. Before too long your lawn will be beautiful.

I had the same problem, worked on it for years, it got a little better but only after I hired a professional lawn care service did get the results that I was looking for.
The quickest way is to re-sod, if you don't want to wait!

Weed and Feed.
And water it well.

A good healthy lawn makes it hard for weeds to grow.
Water is amazingly good for that.

And Scotts or some other Weed and Feed fertilizer will help stop the weeds (you can also spot-zap them with weed killer spray).

Hire someone to take off the first layer of dirt and weeds, have top soil added and spread out, then lay sod, water it well until it gets established, and enjoy your lawn.

The best way is to till it up and start over with new grass or sod. The more grass you have the less weeds you'll have. I would wait till Sept. to start over with the heat as bad as it is. It would be impossible to keep watered. Fertilizer it in Nov. and then again in Feb. and that should keep the weeds way down.

We had that problem in our backyard. You have to pull the weeds not just cut or mow them (use a shovel, coz some weeds have thorns on them), then you have to spray the soil with a weed killer (we used ROUND UP) and it worked for us.

Remove the lawn and replace it with stone slabs on it. You will never need to remove any weeds FOREVER.

Get a good lawn service or prepare to dig them out. You could astroturf it or make it a huge driveway.
