You do the crime, you do the time.
And, this "mature" 14 year old dude won't be needing or getting any movies or videos paid for by the public "forever."
What is your point?

It would be extremely rare for a 14 year old to get a life sentence and would only happen if a judge (actually several judges since the case would almost certainly be appealed) determined that this particular 14 year old did have an adult level understanding of their crime.
If we had the resources to put all 14 year olds through that same process to determine whether they could see an "R" rated movie, then perhaps some of them could be given exceptions. But we don't, so a blanket restriction is appropriate.

You are confusing two different issues. The first is an age limit imposed by the mores of the society, but the second is the determination between right and wrong.. We set standards in our society for what most people can accept and understand and those are called mores. Obviously showing sex movies to a 12 year old is neither beneficial to the child or good for the moral community. But a child that wantonly kills a dog or cat with sadistic intent is not normal and is detrimental to the welfare of others..Many such children have proven to be brutal to their wives or children...shouldn't the cruelty be stopped....and as you know our court system is too lenient.

Because the prison lobby says so.
America has more prisons, prisoners than any country on earth. We beat China. The lobby is one of the most powerful (aka gives away most money)
So jail is a industry and like any industry growth is absolutely necessary to sustain your profits. There are new prisons being built in all 50 states. It won't be long until we can toss lazy Smurfs into jail. One day in court One choice. Military Conscript or Labor Camp.

There are incidence when an animal is so deranged that its age is not relevant. Its too dangerous to be allowed freedom.
The age "14" is irrelevant if that person has the inteligence and means and willingness to kill. Maturity is not the issue here.
The laws regarding movies and games are intended to PREVENT such distorted individuals from forming in the first place.
You must be 14, or you'd know that.

that's surprisingly uncommon that a minor (a 14 yo) could flow to penal complex for existence for something, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it has surpassed off. lots of the time in the event that they're despatched away for any time that's purely too juvie and multiple of the time no longer than their 21st birthday (till they're tried as an grownup). lots relies upon on the character of the crime, the persons previous history of regulation breaking etc. as an occasion, in the paper the different morning there exchange right into a guy sentenced to existence in reformatory for his conviction of housebreaking and steeling 35 dollars---------in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it exchange into his fourth time in court docket for for various crimes and alter into sentenced to such an severe time with the aid of being incorrigible. He exchange into 24.

According to you we should let these murderers, rapist, etc... just run around and commit these crimes while people like you defend them for being too young. Do the crime do the time it is all about taking responsibility and quit pushing blame

RIGHT IS RIGHT AND WRONG IS WRONG... ANY 14 YR OLD KNOWS THAT, SO MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
ON THE OTHER HAND, WHO LET'S THOSE KIDS PLAY AND EVEN BUY FOR THEM TICKETS TO R RATED MOVIES? WHO BUYS THOSE VIOLENT GAMES? THEIR PARENTS IF THE MARKET CAN PROFIT FROM THIS, GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CAN PROFIT TOO, IF THOSE MOVIES AND GAMES HAVE ANY KIND OF SUCCESS IN SOCIETY IS BECAUSE SOCIETY WANTS THEM TO. BECAUSE WE ARE THE ONES BUYING THAT STUFF FOR THEIR KIDS AND THEMSELVES.

You can't compare seeing a rated R movie with committing an adult crime.
