Last minute is OK.. some people work better to deadlines.
The thing is to schedule even 5-10 minutes study into each day, that way it keeps getting planted into your short term and long term memory banks.

i havent been to school since april, im going back in sept so this could be a good review for myself.
Read over the entire chapter, Highlighting key points during and/or going back afterwards with it still fresh in your mind.
Re-write. Anything important, what you need to know, basic facts to help you remember details. Dont Scramble the words down in no particular order. Organize it. Point form is usually best. When using abbreviations, remember what the abbreviatoin was used for, or dont use it at all. Chronological order is usually good. Dont skip back and forth between chapters, your understanding will be scattered. Mini-quiz yourself when you need a break from reading. 10-20 simple questions, one word answers, tru/false, short answer essay, fill in the blank, multiple choice. Once you've got something down, and you're confident with it, go on to another topic. Then Dont forget to Review Review Review !!
