I manage a car lot and I need to motivate a sales team that has not been doing very well, but has had a plenty of opportunities. I am putting together a spiff cash program to pay them on the spot for good performance. Please any advice on how to make this team a winner?

My advice to you is to:
---Become a little more than boss to sales team- like between associates and friends. Make them feel confident to come and ask you questions about such things.

---Encourage them! For example, give a demostration speech (without a stern tone of voice) of what they are doing (but make it over exaggerated to make 'em laugh- be all boring), then show how they can brighten up the world of cars (being all bright and cheery~ still trying to make 'em laugh- be over exaggerated again). Have them do it just like you- infront of everybody else: (1), be all over-exaggerated BORING, then (2), have them be over-exaggerated BRIGHT and CHEERY like over gay people. Make them laugh and have fun. Then after all of them did two walk throughs of "boring" and "bright and cheery", have them lay a spot inbetween so you don't scare the customers off (lol).

---Make goals and contests for your team over a certain period. At the end of the period, have the person who won the contest be given a certain prize like "Free from work for 7 days, no charge", or something like that. If your team is still saddened and negative, make awards like the "brightest and cheeriest speech" and so on..

---But the most important thing is for them to be comfortable with their job- you don't have to be buddies with them, just give them permission to come and ask you questions. Never give a yelling tone to ANYONE or that will make the team less negative.

Hope this helps...

somebody mentioned the TWolves. Thats way incorrect. they have been between the surprises with the way theyve performed this month. no person expected them for the playoffs. besides, I gotta say its Detroit. They have been considered one of 5-6 communities with actual identify hopes and 3 days into the twelve months Joe D obliterates them with a commerce for the antithesis of a pacesetter. Chauncey became into the glue that delivered them to 6 right now ECF. Now they have no probability of having decrease back there. all the different communities that had a large gamble to win all of it are nonetheless there. The hornets have been disappointing yet they are in a position to nonetheless circulate to the 2d or third around as predicted. different communities like TOR and PHI would pass over the playoffs yet no team has fallen an echelon like the Pistons.

First thing for your team: give real postivie vibes. That's should be the number one item. Like tell them they're the best despite thier poor sales. Each team member should be motivated indiviually so they can do better. Now the cash bonus is a real good bonus to motivate. Listen you know your team better than anyone else--just tell them thier your best.
