Simple, In the USA, all airspace is controlled by the FAA. If any idiot could get into a jetpack and kill 100s of people, where would we be? In the 60's, a flying car was developed, without VHF, and without pilot training, that idea was quickly squashed, because of this.

Imagine some drunk idiot flying in front of the passenger aircraft, you are in!

I know! And the video phones. And the bubbles around our house to keep out the radioactive fall out and pollution?

Back in 1976 I would have never predicted that in 2006 that products of every kind have evolved so almost everything is both very inexpensive and made to be broken.

a couple of months ago a guy near me was on the front page of our hick county newspaper ---
he tried to make a homemade one and crashed into the woods - it was the funniest thing ever -
they had a picture of the thing - it was all mangled up but it looked like a lawnmower motor was powering it hahahahaha - dont know if it worked with the same physics of the"jet pack" but it was still funny as hell

They were deemed unhealthy for us by the FDA and the EPA decided they caused more holes in the ozone layer. Then the FBI and CIA said they couldn't be given to people who didn't pass a background check. All the acronyms got involved and it got lost in appropriations and red tape.

We better NOT ever get those Jetsons-type monstrosities. Can you imagine thousands of idiots colliding with each other in the skies? They aren't safe, and they burn too much fuel. Another thing we didn't get from then is Food Pills. Would you want them?

i personally saw them use it for demonstration in 1963 in Clev OH they worked well but the whole idea was scrapped because of the tanks it would only support flight for 30 seconds and bigger tanks are too cumbersome

well the inventor that made them didnt guage the speed too good and he flew straight up to the moon. When you go get him back down then maybe he will give you one for your help.
