I'll be honest. I hated the LOTR movies. I don't think Peter did a good job of bringing that world to ife. The first movie was beautiful, touching, everything it should've been. The other two changed the story significantly. I don't have enough room to tell you what all I thought was wrong with it. My biggest grief was the way Peter Jackson dismissed the race of men as heros. He trashed Faramir's character, we hardly saw Eomer, Aragorn was weaker willed then in the books, etc.

But, hey if you enjoyed it, good for you.

Lord of the Rings 1, 2 and 3...

They did a great job keeping to the story while changing only dialogue for the sake of screenplay...Jackson was very faithful to the classic novels and brought many of the places and creatures to life...

Sin City .. granted it was a comic book
The shots were lifted identically off the pages and onto the screen ... if you read the book you can follow along the movie perfectly

The Godfather. They left out a part of the book that didn't really work (the doctor) and told a great story.

I want to say lord of the rings, but narnia was much more true to the books- they didn't have to sut nearly as much out, if any. Im gonna say the chronicles of narnia.

Cold Mountain: the movie was actually better because it didn't get bogged down by overly detailed wordy descriptive passages.

White Oleander... I thought the movie was even better than the book, and it captured the emotion of it very well.

Fight Club, they translated the claustrophobic, creepy feel of the book very well in the film.
