what's the difference between an avalanche 1500 4WD and an avalanche 1500 Z71?

Z71 is the "Off Road Suspension" package, in 2007 it consists of locking rear differential, wheel flares, different tires, skid plates, tube assist steps, and affects color availability.

4WD is 4WD, Z71 does nothing to change that!

The Z-71 option is refering to the suspension.Chevy has started putting the Z-71 suspension on 2wd and 4wd trucks. 4wd means that all 4 wheels are powered instead of only 2. Chevy started doing this in 2005.

z71 is the sporty model usually 2 wd 4wd mens it just that it has four wheel drive were all four wheels can drive at the same time or can be driven in 2 wd to

Well its kind a like a regular Camaro and an IROC Camaro. Better eng. better suspension Standard pkgs verses extra add ons costing mor3e money than what is already included
