what makes you answer a question??

why do some have so few responses and some about 30?

i have noticed a large no of responses even for non provocative questions

I notice questions that sound sincere, intelligent, and interesting...

Little known is the fact that words often carry a subtle emotional rider that is communicated to the MINDs of others, and this rider conveys something of the emotional state of the questioner. We know, at a less than conscious level, in other words, whether a questioner is seriously in need of an answer, or if the question is a puff bit not requiring ones thoughtfulness and energy of response.

I look to see if it is a question that is a reasonable question, meaning not a joke. Then I look to see if it is something I actually feel competent in answering. I guess some people just guess at a lot of stuff, but I won't answer unless I am pretty sure of it. Then I look to see if other people have already given a good enough answer... then I might vote on this question instead of answering it.

I answer if I feel like I know enough about a topic --- or if I think I have a useful insight into the situation about which the question is asked. And sometimes I just can't resist being as smarta** lol (Hard NOT to do with some of these questions! LOL) nor have I always ranting about the question/questioner....

There are topics that can go into every one's mind. And some topics are pretty limited to certain knowledgable people.

If you don't believe me, put " Are Men and Women equal" in your next question, you will get at least 40 responses in a day. Questions like that can just be opinion and many are willing to participate and voice their opinions!

I answer questions about which I think I can help. If I know something about the Q and have an answer that no one else has given yet.
