I have not heard of this specific use for Emu oil. Probably ANY oil on the dogs feet would help protect his skin, thence lessen his allergic reaction. Try the olive oil in your kitchen cupboard first. It is healing and protective and been used since the dawn of man.

Many folks find their pets' allergies are helped by brewer's yeast and garlic, available in a tasty tablet at most health food stores & many pet stores. Doctors Foster & Smith have it in their catalog.

For topical treatment, I would use 2-3 drops of thyme oil (available at natural foods stores, aka white thyme oil) in a teaspoon of olive oil. It heals the irritated skin, stops the itch and prevents infection. In this small amount, it won't hurt the dog if he licks it off. If you want to experiment before investing in the essential oil, try this: clean the feet with Lysterine and then immediately rub in the olive oil. It's going to burn, because the mouthwash has alcohol in it, but you will be amazed at how it relieves the itching for your pet.
