I'd suggest you get Yahoo Widgets.There are hundreds of radio station widgets to choose from and they are all very small, so almost no harddrive space is used.
As far as cutting out goes, thats just part of listening to radio on the internet.

find a site called inkline software labs and dowload pure radio for local and usa stations
you will find the site on google

Try pandora.com they have a lot of stuff on there and you can create a load of your own individual staions, so like one for each genre or something.
Just type in the name of the artist or song and it'll come up with a load of similar bands etc.
