They are usually not appealing, but I must say, after a long hot day any kind of shower is sweet.

The only reason I ever use a restroom at a campground is because I have to. The showers are horrible and no privacy at all. I guess they have to be that way for easy cleaning cause they are not dirty like service station restrooms. They are just uncomfortable to use.

Almost all public restrooms are disgusting and filthy. With campgrounds you add to the filth cause there are showers which lots of people will use, and possibly some will pee in, but they will not be cleaned properly. So now you have dirty moldy showers for everyone to use which are just bacteria traps waiting to get someone really sick. Too yucky!

I just went camping with my husband and my sister and her husband last weekend and I had to use the restrooms before sis got there with her camper and I have to say that in no way was the restroom "appealing", in fact it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. I used it for a shower because I had no other choice. But that is only one, and I cannot judge places I've never been to.

Camp restrooms are NEVER appealing!!! Unless you're camping somewhere really posh and unrealistic. I am kind of high maintenance so maybe that's why I mind the showers so much, but they are disgusting. Moldy, full of spiders, etc. OOOOH i just thought of a great showering technique!!! Put on the shower gel on your body and the shampoo in your hair (wet it to make it lather) and THEN jump in the shower with your eyes clothes and your flip flops on. It'll take like 2 seconds and you won't have to experience any of it!!! Smart huh??

No, there is usually not enough hot water to make it worth my while and they usually stink and have lots of dead bugs.

We have a camper for this reason. I do not have to use the public restrooms or showers.

If you're going to go camping, you need to expect old-school bathroom facilities. Try camping for real with tents and a jug of *cold* water for a shower! I was in Girl Scouts when I was a kid, so I'm conditioned to the real camping experience.
