The only reason why they tell you that you can't fly in the 8th month is for the fear that you will go into labor. You have to get a dr.s note and clear it with the airline if you plan to fly. It is all dependent on how long the flight is and how far along in her pregnancy she is. There is no harm to the baby...regardless of what people say.

If you have a normal healthy pregnancy, it can be perfectly safe to fly during most of it. Be sure to discuss your trip plans with your doctor or midwife, however, before booking your flight. If you have medical or obstetric complications such as diabetes or high blood pressure, are carrying twins, have placental abnormalities or a history of blood clotting disorder, or are at risk for preterm labor, your healthcare provider will probably advise you to stay close to home throughout your pregnancy. (Well-controlled mild gestational diabetes shouldn't be a problem.)
HOWEVER... there are airline restrictions for pregnant travelers..so, she may not be able to fly depending on their regulations.

It depends if she is having a normal pregnancy and on the airline you plan to travel. Like for instance, Delta does not have any restriccions for pregnant women traveling, but you should always tell and advise your OBGYN and let him note the date of travel and check her out and monitor her. That way you know for certain that it is ok. Check with the airline carrier too.

Not really the best time is during the second trimester (4th to 6th months) because anything can happen, premature labor or anything that might require a doctor. So best bet is to go now. Good Luck.

Some airlines won't let you fly. Flying in the last trimester can trigger labout. She might want to talk to her Dr...they will probably tell you no flying...especially for that long a flight

Doctors dont recommend flying after the 6th month, in case something happens during the flight. I would fly to her.

I don't think there are any health issues though she may suffer from severe nausea due to the air pressure change. Just so that you know...babies are probably safer than we are when it comes to health. Our bodies instantly take second so that the baby may be born healthy and strong.

No. Flying any time during her third tri-mester can be highly dangerous. Most airlines won't even let you fly past your 28th week.
