I have PCOS. Was diagnosed last June. Had 12 months of Metformin. Have very irregular periods - 1 every 3 months or so. Have been trying for nearly 3 years. I am desperate for a baby. I am only 21 so my age should not be a problem. I would like some tips on falling pregnant preferably without medication.

I'm very sorry that so many people didn't take you seriously. I have PCOS as well, I'm about your age (22) and though I'm not TTC yet, I've done quite a lot of research on PCOS since I found out I had it three years ago. I understand how hard it is to deal with this.

Although some women with PCOS can get pregnant without medication, if you have been trying for three years with no luck, the odds are small that it will happen without medical help. Anything is possible, though. But your irregular periods are a clue that you probably aren't ovulating often (if at all) and that could make it very hard to get pregnant.

If you've tried metformin and it didn't help, there are a few things you can ask your doctor. Your dosage may not have been high enough--many women with PCOS take the maximum dose of metformin. Or it could just be that met alone wasn't enough to cause you to ovulate. Many women with PCOS take a combination of Clomid (a fertility drug) and metformin. Diet and exercise, of course, can help with fertility if you're able to lose weight. And even if the metformin didn't help you get pregnant, it's still important for controlling insulin resistance. There are also studies that show that after you do get pregnant, met can greatly reduce the risk of miscarriage (for some reason, PCOS patients have a relatively high rate of m/c).

You should also check out www.soulcysters.net. It's a message board for women with PCOS and there are a LOT of women there who are TTC. They should have much more information and support for you.

Good for your man for quitting smoking! It'll be much better for both of you (and the little one when s/he comes along). Good luck with TTC!

I had pcos and got pregnant with my daughter after not having a period for 2 years. While I was having a c-section to get her out, the doctors did an emergency operation to remove my right ovary. It was 13 x 10 centimeters large. I would have died if it would have ruptured. Anyways, pcos is a hard thing to deal with. Go to your endocrinologist(if you dont have one, get one) I am assuming that you are overweight?? If your not or even if you are, it does not matter, ask your doctor for Glucophage, its a prescription that triples your egg count, I had pcos, one ovary, no periods and got pregnant a second time, within 2 weeks of starting the medication. It makes you VERY VERY FERTILE, look it up and ask about it, it is for people with border line diabetes also.

If you can be pregnant or if you have infertility problems I reccomend to follow this method http://pregnancy.toptips.org

Many factors can cause a couple trouble in conceiving a baby, I'll list a few of the most common ones in women:
Anorexia or other dietary dysfunctions
Lacking amounts of FSH and LH are produced, so ovaries aren't as functional as they could be, and so not many eggs are produced
Stress, causing periods to become irregular
Medications such as cancer treatments, antidepressants, hormone therapy, pain killers, and antipsychotic drugs can all cause temporary infertility.

With the method that I posted above you will be able to get pregnant!

Check your discharge. It changes colour and consistency when you are ovulating. This worked for me and my friend who couldn't get pregnant for four years.

Relax. Stress doesn't help.

Keep still for 20 minutes afterwards (preferably with hips and legs higher than head).

Think positively.

Have sex regularly. Sperm is in larger quantity after a few days, but the sperm is not such good quality and has less "swimmers".

Ensure the man has a well aired groin area. No tight or constricting or sweat inducing underwear/trousers etc.

Watch your diet. Reduce coffee and other stimulants. Don't eat ready meals or additives. Eat only organic eggs. eat lots of fruit and veg. Avoid aspartame (found in diet foods, reduced sugar food and drinks) like the plague.

all the best

Well I am the same as you. I want a baby very badly. My husband and I have been trying for years. We tried and tried and then we went to clomid. Now we found out he has a varicose vein so he has to have surgery on that and then we should be good to go back on clomid. Honestly alot of people with PCOS use clomid.

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating.
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant. Anyway this is a great methid to get pregnant fast https://tr.im/a276e

If you want the child to be your own, you must consult a doctor.
However, why not consider adoption. Everywhere, there are so
many kids (babies included) that need a mother. My eldest
daughter (39) has recently adopted a child with a serious heart
condition. She travelled a long way to see the boy who is now
four and under good care. He still needs heart surgery, but she
did save a life and made the little one very happy. Of course,
there are healthy babies awaiting adoption, but my daughter felt
it to be her duty in saving a life.
