Hezbollah is an Iranian funded shi'a terrorist group (Or legitimate political party and resistance group depending which side you are on) in Southern Lebanon. The military wing of the Hezbollah has been labelled a terrorist organisation by the USA and Israel.
The group currently operates at least four hospitals, 12 clinics, 12 schools, and two agricultural centres that provide farmers with technical assistance and training. It also has an environmental department and an extensive social assistance programme. Medical care provided through Hezbollah is also less expensive than in most of the country's private hospitals and free for Hezbollah members. Most experts believe that Hezbollah's social and health programmes are worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually.
It was formed with the main objective of expelling the Israel army from (Southern) Lebanon.

Answered already. They are a political/terrorist organization based in several countries in the middle east including Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. They have some seats in the Lebaneese government, and they also have factions that commit terrorist acts.

They are fighting because they feel they have a right to Isreal's land. Its basically a holy war.

EDIT: For those people that think Hezbolla are scumbags for using human shields, Isreal has done it too. Look at this link.

Hezbollah is a resistance movement spurred from ISraelis attempt to take southern lebanon in the early 80's. Since then they have built quite a force to protect their community but unlike most organization seek to arm themselves. They have done more for the poor shiite community in southern lebanon then anyone. They have revitilized that area. They are fighting because they made a wrong assumption. They assumed that by kidnapping 2 soldeirs they could negotiate the freesome of thousands of people from lebanon and palestine that were captured by israel over the last twenty years. Israel instead of negotiating for freedom decided to attack for "peace".
