If you know nothing about Leopard Geckos, you should wait until you do. Before bringing a Leoaprd Gecko home, you must have the aquarium 100% ready. Leopard Geckos will die if you do not take good care of them. They die of depression or lack of what it needs, including light.
Here is a list of what you will need (and the $):
Sand for the bedding ($10-15)
Hide rock ($12)
Aquarium... if you are getting just one gecko, a *10 long aquarium* will do. Ask your petstore if they have one. (about $15-20)
Lights:
Lunar Bright... this goes on during the night time. (about $10)
Sun Glow... this goes on during the night (about $8)
2-3 basking twigs (put these in the direct light in day time)
Crittets... 10 will do for 1 week ($1)
Water dish ... fill this with fresh water every day (about $5)
In case anyone is wondering how I know all this info, I have a female Leopard Gecko of my own in a 30 gallon tank. Her name is Javie. Here is a pic of her and her home!

Leopard geckos are relatively easy & cheap pets for reptile beginners.
You don't really have to get anything fancy for a leopard gecko unless you want to. I have successfully kept individual adult leopards and also African fat tail geckos in plastic shoe boxes drilled for ventillation. I used newspaper to line the bottom. I used recycled jar lids for both water & food. I also used small narrow boxes for hide spots. No need for extra heat if kept at normal room temperatures. No need for extra light if the room they are kept in has some sunlight or other light occasionally. Be sure to sprinkle a high quality D3 calcium supplement such as Sticky Tongues http://www.miner-all.net/vitall.htm or RepCal http://www.repcal.com/supp.htm
The cricket cost will be different everywhere you go. I order at least at least 1000 at a time & keep them in a 20 gal aquarium with egg crate & vegetables & flaked high calcium baby oats to feed them until I use the crickets to feed to the lizards... but I have a lot of lizards.
Good luck!

1 million dollars.................shouldn't you have priced all this prior to making the decision. I would go and price it all then if you still want to do it, buy the stuff and get it all set up........at least a day before you bring your little guy home. Give the sand time to warm and the rocks etc.....Shop around for good prices......go to places like walmart for the tank and accessories but get the Gecko from a respectable pet store to assure its health...
