It's your right to "think" that you don't like a country, and FOS (freedom of speech) tells different tales, but the "law" or those lobbying, pushing and polluting the English language with them, suggests that you go "in the closet" and speak your mind, or um ... Blog - no matter what country you are in.

>> Well if you say it soft and sweet in the blog or closet THINGS ARE NOT HAPPENING! It seems if you take a gun and shoot two people in the street and then say something then it gets published in the papers if you stand in the corner of the road and whisper you can whisper to yoruself forever and nothing will happen.

I have been living in China for five years; I find most of the claims from the West to be without merit. First, it was about the freedom of religion; I have been going to a Christian church since I have been here. The Catholic Church just isn't allowed to sway the China laws and policies. Now there is a claim about needing to keep quiet; the young people often protest and I see a lot of older people protesting one thing after another. The police barricade the area and keep other people from fighting them. The thing that is not allowed is plotting against the government; uh oh, that is also not allowed in the USA or England.

Well, that's a tough one. I mean, we now live in a country (USA) where it's a crime to not support small countries in the Middle East. Anti-this and anti-that, and a whole lot of religious words that represent world evils. So: Shhhhhhhhhh!

You can criticize anybody anywhere. In China, and the US.

As with the above reply, please, everybody, stop spreading stereotypes about how the government will put you in jail. This is really not true unless you go shout at a police officer in his face, then it may be, just like if you were to do this with an US cop. By all means, hold protests and express your opinion. Nothing would happen. You wouldn't get more than two glances from people on the street.

YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WANT
YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT

Just be ready for the repercussions. Some include bodily harm, destruction of property and sometimes death. You can say what you want, YOu can do what you want. But what happens next, you should be able to handle.

otherwise keep your trap shut.

In China, criticism of the government could land you in jail.

It does not do so here. but people have a right to respond to criticism too.
