Okay, there was this book I read, probably back in the 5th grade. I have no idea what reading level it is because back when I read it, I know it wasn't my reading level then, I had a lot of trouble reading it, but it was so interesting to me, I just had to finish it! The only details I can recall: There was a town of people that lived way back when, no electricity & they grew their own food & things like that. Well, a bunch of the kids starting getting sick. One of the adults took one of her teenage daughters aside & told her the nasty truth about the town. It wasn't really back that far in time, it was in our time, Wal-Marts & TV. The town was just a place that was kept hidden for people to come & see, like a museum, so they could see what it was like living back then. Only the adults were aware of it though. have that medicine & if we give it to you, the whole thing won't be as real as it was back then. They were just going to let all these children die when they could do something about it! So she told her daughter a way to escape out of the place & told her where to go & what to do to find the medicine they needed. The other part I remember is once she had gotten out she went into a convenience store & had trouble picking out something to drink. She finally chose one of the fruity things because she thought the Cokes & stuff looked like poisons. Thanks for your time everyone!

I read that book! It's called 'Running Out of Time' by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

I does sound an awful lot like the movie "The Village". I read tons of books as a kid, and this one isn't ringing any bells...lo siento.
