I live in the Bible belt where there are a lot of Christians. These Christians want to judge everyone by their Christian beliefs by making laws that are very closely aligned by those Christian beliefs.

For example, liquor stores can not be open on Sundays in my state. What makes Sundays so special that liquor should not be sold? The argument that "it's the weekend" isn't a viable reason, in my opinion. There are a lot of jobs where the employees are off work on weekdays, but work on weekends.

They also want to have laws that state that gays can not marry. They want laws against abortion. They want to encourage prayer in schools. The list is almost endless.

If the Christians want to judge me and everyone else based upon THEIR beliefs, why shouldn't the rest of us (non-Christians) judge using our beliefs. What makes their religion so much "better" than any other set of beliefs.

I'm all for religious freedom. As long as it doesn't hurt others, and isn't forced upon others, people can believe anything they want.

Some of my ancestors came to the "New World" in the 1600s to escape religious persecution. They were Quakers, and were discriminated against and killed for their beliefs.

I have ancestors that fought in the American Revolution because they believed that all should have the right to self determination. My ancestors fought in the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. They fought and risked their lives because they believed in the principles upon which this country was founded. One of those principles was the right to believe in whatever god (or no god) that one chooses.

I hope they didn't fight in vain. Let me have my beliefs. Don't codify religion into law.

Most religion is nothing more than mind control. Instead of reasoning and questioning, you accept things as there are without questioning why it is a certain way or why you should do a certain thing. And no we shouldn't judge someone by their beliefs. Religion only makes up a part of a person. What about character or values?

We shouldn't judge anybody by what they presumably believe in. Religion,as far as I can see, is a collection of values and beliefs that societies and cultures feel a need to believe in. Whether everyone interprets these values in the same way influences what they believe, and therefore how they behave.

No two Christians will interpret the bible in EXACTLY the same way, so it's no different for any other religion.

Religion is a human phenomenon that defies easy definition. It is commonly understood as a group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object (real or imagined), person (real or imagined), or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system"[1] In the course of the development of religion, it has taken many forms in various cultures and individuals.

Occasionally, the word "religion" is used in the more restrictive sense of "organized religion" — that is, an organization of people supporting the exercise of some religion, often taking the form of a legal entity

Yes i believe it is good to judge someone on their religion. Religious people are ones that choose to leave their life through certain types of rules and regulations. Its integral to their character. I believe that at first look religion is a good way to judge but regardless of their religious affliations one needs ot take the time to get to know a person. Some people who follow religion care not of your affilation and can be just as good a friend and confident. I never believing judging a person is wrong as long as you dont steer clear of getting to know someone based on what you see. Keep your mind open

i dont think we should but since 911 this whole religious thing has gotten deep. Now if you are a certain religion or even attend certain services you are now being watched. thats just the way it is. you shouldnt judge anyone by their religion but when people have these cult/group meetings and start plotting murders and crimes due to beliefs then something should be done to watch them. I dont think we should judge someone by it but who am i? this question is so debatable but yes we are now judged according to our beliefs wheather we like it or not... thats wassup..

Never judge someone according to their religion. I mean, it's like judging someone by the color of their skin or by the way they dress. You have to know the person to have your opinion on them, know what they believe in and what not.

What is religion?

Religion is the one was introduced to peaple to make them to follow certain good practice. Peaple with similar thoughts formed a group and made set of rules to follow. If simply said to follow many may not follow it so they introduced god to that.

Many mis-understood following religion and following some faith are same but it is not.

Should we judge someone by it, according to their beliefs?

No, We cant. Not supposed to. Judging a person who can be a good person by heart but he is just because he is following some faith forced on him can mislead you to judge him as wrong person. Any person can be judged only by his natural charecter not by the Religion or Faith is followed by him.

Religion is one's belief, and we should not be judge by anybody because of their religion. Religion is something that we believe in our second death where there is hope for all of us. Not everybody believes in it since they have not receive gods spirit. You will know when you are ready.

Good work and religion are one
My religion of life is always to be cheerful.
It is in the giving up of self that human beings can find the most ecstatic and lasting, solid, durable joy of life. And it is death that provides life with all its meaning. This "secret" is the central wisdom of religion.
Selfishness is the only real atheism; aspiration, unselfishness, the only real religion.
