2 ounces of apple or prune juice in a day, diluted with a little water.. I had this problem with my second son.. I called the doctor and this is what he told me..............
1) one ounce of apple or prune juice watered down per month of age.
2) a warm bath
3) lubricate your finger with petrolium jelly (or something like that) and gently rub around the OUTSIDE of the anus.. applying a tiny bit of pressure ( the baby's natural reaction will be to push back, thus causing a BM)
Might sound gross, but I think that people on Answers tend to leave out usefull information because it's not appealing.. but you're the mom.. and if you called the Pediatritian to ask.. this is what he would tell you.

2 months is really early to start cereal even if it is mixed with formula...but I get why you are doing it. At this age you can introduce a small amount of juice (make sure it's %100...no sugar) diluted with a little water. Pear is what my pediatrician recommended trying first for constipation because it is very mild. If that doesn't work you can move on to prune...that will work. We saw results pretty fast after using juice. Start small like an ounce or 2, and see how that works.

Well to be honest giving him cereal at two months can be dangerous. I am a mother of two and my mom is a dietitian. They never recommend given a child younger than seven to eight months cereal because it messes up their digestive system. I know how hard it is not to give your baby cereal - it seems like he's not getting full, right? But in that case then just try giving him more formula. A newborns stomach is not developed completely so it won't digest the cereal - especially not mixed cereal. If you feel like you just have to give him cereal with formula- try rice cereal. It's plain and a little easier on the digestive system, and never give him more that a teaspoon. Again it is not recommended and can be harmful to his stomach, but I do understand the feeling of thinking "he's not getting full". Good luck with your new bundle of joy!!!!! :-)

Oh my word, you should NOT be giving your son cereal at this age!! And gorging him on formula is not good either. Why are you feeding him so much? Is he crying? He's probably crying for some other reason. Please speak to your son's doctor. If your son's doctor thinks it is okay to feed a 2 month old cereal and so much formula that he gets sick, then find a new doctor...today!

Have you tried putting a lil bit of Karo syrup in his cereal. I have 6 kids and it always worked for me. Also you don't want to do this on a reg basis because you don't want to have ur baby dependent on anything to go to the potty BUT my doc told me occasionally you can try self stimulation like putting a lil vaseline on the end of your rectal thermometer or you can use your lil blue "boogey" sucker and take some warm water put some mild soap like ivory in the water and swoosh it around a bit then take a small amount and use it as an enema I would try that last. Although it is very safe and effective. Good Luck hon!!!

Try mixing a little baby food fruit, like apple or peach, with the baby food cereal flakes. Get a runny consistency in the bowl and then feed him. The fruit should get him to go easier. Formula can be constipating.

You should talk to your sons Dr. before ANY diet changes.
Mixed cereal is NOT what you give the baby first...it's too much for them to digest...you ALWAYS start with rice cereal, but only with the Dr.'s permission...you really shouldn't start cereal until 4-5 months old.
Call the Dr.

He is old enough to have a little juice when he gets constipated. Try about three ounces of juice mixed with one once of water at his next feeding. A mild juice like apple or grape. If he is still hungry he can have his milk and cereal. Baby oatmeal doesn't constipate like rice cereal does. So try that next time.

My baby started having a problem going to the bathroom at a week old. In fact she didn't hardley sleep or eat because she was so constipated. I started putting a little bit of karo syrup in her formula bottles and I would put some karo syrup in water for her and it cleared up the problem very quickly.
