Since when is atheism an extreme?
If there are only two categories, belief in God or non belief, then Christianity is also an extreme.

atheism is extreme?

Wow... I guess I qualify as an extremist then.

(pantheism is extreme too?)

Yes, I can see the communism, reverse-racism, etc from my party's most crazy members. The problem is that the "center" of the U.S. political spectrum is actually far to the right of most other 1st-world nations (basically all of Europe). You can tell because you can see a lot of the right-extreme things in day-to-day life. Warring? Check. Theocracy? Almost. Conglomerate monopolies? Exxon... 1st amendment restrictions? Bill to alter Constitution for gay marriage. Etc...etc...

On the left side, you do not have a rise in those extreme fringes, because the center is shifted to Rep.

My rule. Vote for Demo until the U.S. is back in the center, then always vote for the underdog. A split House, Senate, and Presidency is what Checks and Balances are all about -- and those times where we have been split have always been less damaging than those times when EITHER party has total control.

Our terminologies are relative to our political system. When we say something is extreme, we are refering to our own system. And I agree with the first guy, Christianity is an extreme at times. Many times, people don't consider the other party. We need more give and take, moderation, in our politics.
