Holy cow. I'm surprised your doctor didn't smack you and make you eat a sandwich. That little weight gain is extremely unhealthy and it's a wonder you had a healthy baby. My friend is pregnant and they told her that during the first trimester, she should gain very little weight but in the second and third she should gain about a pound per week and that overall she should gain 25-35 pounds to ensure a healthy baby and ensure SHE has a healthy pregnancy. Your doctor should be shot.

With my first baby, I gained 60lbs, I got back down to 145lbs in about 6 months...With my second, I only gained 28lbs, and seemed to stay the same, I was wearing my pre-maternity clothes in a few weeks...I am now 8 months pregnant and have only gained 11 lbs..My Dr is not concerned, the baby is at the target weight for the gestational age...I am NOT complaining!!I only have 6 1/2 weeks to go, so I guess I'll see how much more I'll gain...

I gained 30 pounds with my first pregnancy. It took a good year to take it all off.
Second pregnancy I gained about 18 pounds and was back to my pre-preg weight within a week.

Man, you suck. ;)
No just kidding. I gained about 50 pounds with my first baby, and it took me a good 6 months to lose all the weight. I never have fit back into my prepregnancy clothes because my body shape entirely changed.
This pregnancy I'm nearly 25 weeks and have only gained 15 pounds. I hope to only gain about 25 the whole pregnancy.

Well I gained 41 pounds the first time. With my second child, I gained around 58 pounds or so. Usually within the first couple of months you go back to shape. Right after birth you immediately lose some weight, but your body is still swollen. It takes time for it to heal.

I gained over 50 lbs. I was 206 when I gave birth. Grant it I am six one and I was 150 before getting prego. I will never see that time of day. The closest I can get to my weight before giving birth is 160 165. Unless I were to have a tummy tuck. It took me two years to work my weight down but at that time I didn't do much exercising either. I was exhausted and could barely get out of bed.

My wife gained 35 pounds. The book says to expect to gain between 20-30 pounds. About 8 pounds for average baby, 10 pounds of amiotic fluid, 2 pounds for placenta. Etc.

Well 109 lbs during a pregnancy is not exactly a record gain... heck, most women would die to be 109 lbs without being pregnant!!! Most women are 130 or so and gain about 15 lbs during pregnancy. I've never been pregnant, not am I 130 lbs but I assure you that 109 lbs and pregnant looks rather nice right now!!

Iam 17 weeks and have gained a big ol 3 pounds. lol. you're supposed to gain 27 pounds in a normal pregnancy. if you dont gain it its because you lose muscle mass as the baby grows and demands more nutrients from your body.
I doubt i'll make the 27 pounds they want me to gain, but ive already noticed that ive lost muscle and fat when i should have been maintaining it if not building up a buffer zone of a few extra pounds.
Its hard to stay healthy when you're pregnant and dont get hungry. very hard indeed.

Well, you're just one lucky woman now aren't you??!!
I was 120 (5'6") before I got pregnant with my first.. right before he was born, I weighed 172.. and he was 7lbs 4oz.. It took me a YEAR to get to 130.. and I don't think I'll see 120 ever again...
Baby no2.. was 130 before I got pregnant, and 170 at delivery.. he was 7lbs and 14oz.. With him, I got to 130 in 3 months...
I'm not too worried about seeing 120 again though.. my breasts are a lot bigger now than they were before I got pregnant, and my hips are wider.. so, I think If I lost that other 10 pounds, I wouldn't look right.
