.net is not a language, it's a framework.

I use C# .Net, but I like Java, too. They're awfully similar. They both are derived from C. Both also have free downloadable IDEs. Microsoft has the "Express" versions, and Sun (Java) has NetBeans.

I've always like Java - and what it stands for - better. It will also run on any platform and will probably always be free to develop and distribute.

However, my job requires me to use C# .Net.

Microsoft (.NET) will take every penny from you that they can.

I'd say c++ and c is easy to learn first.. then Java will be alot easier to understand...(I dont know but that worked for me..so..) all you need is a program that runs the codes.. and check for wrongs...and probably a book or a ebook or something you could start with making your own calculator... and then go in to .net stuff..

I am afraid, You will find both of these difficult. Though, learning dot net may be more easier than Java.
