I've been offered a job at Aflac to sell Benefit Plans. They told me that I need a state license before I even start the training. The license costs something around $313. Is this right? I always hesitate before I take a job when they tell me that I have to pay. Well, Aflac is a big company so I don't think it's a scam or something, cause I also would't pay the money to them, I would pay it to the state, but still.
Does anyone have experiences with that? Maybe someone who does the same job and paid for the license or something.
Is it worth it?

Hello,

The person who offered you a position at Aflac is correct. You do need a Insurance Liscense from the state you are living in which will enable you to become a Sales Associate and sell insurance plans. The cost of the lisence in my state is approximately $250, so $313 sounds about right. I am currently in the process of studying for the test. You need to study for about 2 weeks before you can pass the test and pay the money for the license. Just a tip - once you get your license you can work for any insurance company. If you do not check a company before entering into a transaction,
you could lose your money, time and credibility. Some widely used resources are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center ( www.fraud.org) These days, you can easily find out more about a company using the internet in a few minutes. From a company's website, you can get details about its ownership how old the company really is and feedback from the company's customers. You can find more, detailed information about a company at http://tinyurl.com/gtb89
